Toronto Newcomer Day 2016 celebrated

The second annual Toronto Newcomer Day was yet another celebration of the city where different cultures and communities come together and celebrate each other. Apart from providing information on settlement, education, career, housing and fire safety to newcomers, it also tried to build awareness about governance. Newcomers found the event very useful as it not only provided information about every aspect of settling down in Canada, but helped in building their confidence. Senator Ratna Omidvar called on immigrants to take their governance role seriously and step into the boards of companies. She also called on companies to step out of their comfort zone and build a board that is reflective of Toronto today: that is diverse and inclusive.
