Nominate an inspirational immigrant for the 22nd annual Immigrants of Distinction Awards
The wait is finally over this year to nominate an immigrant in the Calgary area for their outstanding achievements to be recognized. Immigrants of Distinction Awards is an event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating immigrant individuals for the positive impact they’ve created in their community.
The theme for the 2018 Immigrants of Distinction Awards is “Inspire Support Connect,” which places the focus on immigrants and refugees who have inspired us with their passion, dedication and perseverance, and who contribute to the cultural, social and economic environment of Calgary.
If you have a nomination in mind, submissions can be made online and will be help open until 11:59 pm on November 30, 2017.
The categories for nominations are as follows:
- Achievement under 35
- Arts and Culture
- Community Service
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Lifetime Achievement
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
- Organizational Diversity
- Youth Scholarship
“The Immigrants of Distinction Awards celebration is a great platform for all immigrants to express their conviction and hard work that makes Canada diverse and the world a better place to live in,” says Ayush Gosh, Youth Scholarship Recipient, IDA 2017. “This recognition will motivate me to do more for the community.”
Individuals and organizations who are nominated must reside in Calgary or the surrounding area. All candidates aside from the Youth Scholarship must be nominated by someone other than themselves. Only the Youth Scholarship category can self-nominate. All entries will be reviewed by an external anonymous selection committee comprised of community members. Award recipients will be announced at the 22nd annual IDA gala on March 9th, 2018 at The Westin, Calgary.
