Leveraging your work experience: Interview with career coach Daisy Wright

0

Employers asking for ‘country specific’ job experience is a slightly unfair demand. Years of working get discounted just because of a move to another country. In an interview with New Canadians, author Daisy Wright talks about her book ‘No Canadian Experience, Eh?’ and how it is up to the individual to bring their experience to the employer’s attention. No matter from which country, the ability to translate that experience to the Canadian workplace is what needs to be articulated to the employer. While volunteer work is a great way to amass Canadian work experience, Daisy reminds every immigrant to keep his or her eyes on the prize.
