Gateway for International Professionals’ midwifery bridging program
When Ryerson University’s Chang School of Continuing Education realized that the pass rate of internationally trained midwives (ITMs) at the mandatory Canadian Midwifery Registration Examination (CMRE) was as low as 32%, it launched a unique bridging program to support them. This was in 2001. The program incorporates professional language competency program and has a simulation lab where midwives get to develop new clinical skills and practice before they go to work in the community.
