Celebrating diversity in Pan Am/Parapan Am Games – Anqi Luo

0

The 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games celebrates Toronto’s multiculturalism as immigrants participate as athletes, volunteers and organizers.

Canada’s Pan Am hopeful table tennis player Anqi Luo is proud to be representing Canada. “When I participate in international games, I get mistaken for a player from China… I feel proud to wear the (Canadian) uniform.

“Canada is a multi-cultural country and at Pan Am we have different races participating. We feel like we are part of the same family,” she says.

Anqi was born in China and is fluent in all of Canada’s and China’s official languages, but her passion and dedication go beyond her studies. She competes at the highest levels of her sport, and won a bronze medal in pairs competition at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
