Ottawa to host 2nd annual Immigrant Women's Small Business Expo

The second annual Immigrant Women’s Small Business Expo will be facilitated by the Canadian Small Business Women (CSBW) on Sunday, October 4th, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Westin Ottawa (11 Colonel By Drive). The CSBW will be hosting a live panel discussion from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. sponsored by Willis College, featuring Small Business Experts from Ottawa. Our Panel topic will be Women in Healthcare, Business and Technology).

The Immigrant Women’s Small Business Expo is a function catering to women of all industries who have a keen interest in the business-sector and entrepreneurship. CSBW’s goal is to supply attendees with sufficient business tools that will translate into professional development opportunities and career growth for immigrant women who have chosen entrepreneurship as their passion. “When it comes to women in business, Canada is a global pace-setter – women retain ownership in almost half of small businesses and contribute to the creation of 50,000 more each year.”

Dwania Peele, founder of Canadian Small Business Women understands the importance of networking and seeking advice from experienced professionals willing to share their insight when it comes to starting a small business. “I started this organization because I wanted to be able to provide a platform for all women, but immigrant women specifically, who have a vested interest in learning more about starting a small business; how to take the steps to officially launch a start-up, and/or how to take their venture to the next level of success.”

In honour of the Expo, Rima Aristocrat, of Wilis College will be awarding a business scholarship on behalf of Canadian Small Business Women to a lucky guest from the Ottawa-Gatineau Area.

The Immigrant Women Small Business Expo is a free event that is open to everyone. Tickets can be reserved online at www.OttawaExpo2015.eventbrite.ca.
