Communities are stronger when everyone is engaged, connected and well-integrated. For that very reason, developing language skills is essential for any newcomer to Canada.
Some newcomers need help to improve their language skills to get a job, while others want to learn English in order to navigate activities and interactions in their daily lives. This is where Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) programs come in. These programs follow what is known as the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) standard. CLB provides a national framework for describing and measuring the English language abilities of learners and is also used to develop programs and course material suitable for students to learn.
