If like them, one of your goals for the new year is to find a great job, you’re in luck! We’re guiding you through Canada’s hottest jobs and giving you some tips and tools to keep you motivated as you hunt for a gig in your preferred field.
Growth across every industry
In January alone, Canada added 48,300 new jobs to the economy. This growth is expected to continue across industries throughout 2017. Some of the most popular jobs in each industry (as published by Randstad in a list of the country’s hottest jobs) are listed below:
HOW TO: Stay motivated during the job hunt
The job hunt can be tough and tedious. For many people, it’s work that requires a huge investment of time. Trying to find a role that combines what you’re good at with what you enjoy doing, is a job in and of itself. To stay motivated throughout the hunt, here are some useful tips to keep in mind:
- Create a schedule
If you’ve ever been a student, you probably understand the chaos associated with last-minute planning. Without (at least a bit) of scheduling, that chaos can also define your job search. But you can avoid it! When it comes to staying motivated during the job hunt, structure is your friend.

- Keep things in perspective
Sometimes you’ll apply for a job and never hear back. Other times, you’ll feel like you bombed your interview. Sometimes despite a great interview, you won’t get the job. If/when that happens, try to keep things in perspective and look on the bright side. Maybe you learned more about the responsibilities associated with roles you’ve expressed interest in, or you gained interview experience, or you thought of skills to add your resume. Try to see every potential let down as a learning experience.
- Don’t forget to take care of yourself!
Finding your next job might seem like priority #1, but you’ll be more energized (and happier) in that pursuit if you maintain a self-care routine. Exercise, eat well, go outside and soak up the sun, hang out with your friends, volunteer. And of course, we’re always here for you at The Chang School if you need career guidance or are interested in upgrading your skills. Find what makes you happy and do it.
Happy hunting!
